PTML Customs Command Enhances Professionalism, Teamwork, Improved Service Delivery, Trains Senior Officers

 


The Port & Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, organised a leadership seminar for senior officers of the Command as part of efforts to strengthen leadership capacity, enhance professionalism, promote teamwork and improve overall service delivery.

The program  provided a platform for senior officers to deepen their understanding of effective leadership, strategic decision-making and collaborative approaches to achieving organisational goals. It also underscored the importance of discipline, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of Customs responsibilities.

The Training  which was held at the Conference Hall of PTML Command was organised in line with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, PhD, MFR, FNIPR, PSC+, to build a more efficient, motivated, and service-oriented workforce.

Speaking at the event, the Acting Controller of the Command, Comptroller Miko, emphasised the need for officers in leadership positions to lead by example and continually develop their skills to meet the evolving demands of the Service.


Declaring the seminar open, the Acting Area Controller, DC Nura Ibrahim Miko, emphasised that effective leadership is critical to achieving the Service’s core mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and suppression of smuggling.

The first session delivered by Miko titled “Leadership and Followership: Building a Culture of Collaboration and Excellence,” where he emphasised the importance of teamwork and collaboration achieving organisational objectives.

Urging participants to translate the lessons learnt into improved performance and service delivery within the Command, he

reassured stakeholders and members of the trading community of the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency and ease of doing business.

Participants at the seminar were drawn from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to two officers for their outstanding performance and dedication to duty.

The recipients were Assistant Comptroller J.O. Ezekuse, Officer-in-Charge, Mile 2 Gate, and Chief Superintendent of Customs C.A. Ibrahim, Officer-in-Charge, Legal Unit of the Command.


Miko commended the two officers for their diligence and encouraged other personnel to emulate their commitment to effective service delivery.

He said the Command had mechanisms to identify and reward diligence, selflessness and efficient service, urging all officers to continue giving their best in service to the country.

The program formed part of the Command’s efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and foster a culture of professionalism, accountability and collaboration among its senior personnel.

The initiative is also expected to contribute to improved service delivery, stronger stakeholder engagement and more efficient implementation of the Nigeria Customs Service’s mandate at the PTML Area Command.
