The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has finalized plans to launch its advanced FS6000 scanning technology at APM Terminals in Apapa Port to enhance service delivery,
This initiative follows a significant visit from the Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs for ICT, DCG Oluyomi Adebakin, on December 22, 2025.
In a statement issued by the command’s public relations officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs, Isah Sulaiman, was noted that this visit is crucial as preparations are made for the deployment of the scanners.
The machines have recently undergone final test runs and simulations, aiming to enhance the efficiency of cargo clearance and streamline trade processes.
During her s3ß seeite inspection at the Jetty area of APMT, DCG Adebakin emphasized the importance of meticulous planning to ensure a seamless transition to full scanning operations, adhering to global best practices. “The purpose of this inspection is to guarantee that our preparations align with international standards, allowing for a smooth implementation of the FX6000 scanning machine,” she explained.
The inspection followed the successful completion of a final simulation exercise on November 6, 2025, which validated real-time synchronisation of scanned images with electronic cargo declarations. The exercise was supervised by the Customs Area Controller, Apapa Area Command, Emmanuel Oshoba.
Comptroller Oshoba reaffirmed the Apapa Command’s commitment to supporting Customs’ ICT-driven reforms and working closely with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition to full scanner-based cargo examination at Nigeria’s busiest seaport.
