Trade Is Key To Sustainable Economic Growth And Development -Dr. Chukwuma

  


To boost Nigeria's trade and economic advancement, the Deputy National President of NAGAFF (Seaport), Ambassador (Dr) Afam Chukwuma, has stressed the need for greater empowerment in fostering trade and sustainable national development.

Speaking at the Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP)  round table held recently,  which  was  themed, "Empowering Trade, Enhancing Growth", Dr. Afam  highlighted the importance of collaborative effort in driving economic growth and advancement in Nigeria's maritime sector.

The event also brought  together a diverse group of media professionals, maritime stakeholders, policymakers, and development advocates to explore strategic pathways for enhancing the country's economic growth.

Dr. Chukwuma emphasized the critical role of trade empowerment in fostering sustainable national growth. Drawing on his extensive experience in international diplomacy, economic development, and maritime strategy, he outlined a comprehensive blueprint for revitalizing Nigeria's trade corridors. 


The proposed measures include policy reform, infrastructure development, and public-private collaboration, with a focus on modernizing port operations, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, and embracing digital innovation.

He  underscored the significance of empowering trade as a national imperative tied directly to job creation, poverty alleviation, and regional competitiveness. 

The Interactive sessions facilitated by CONMMEP members raised critical questions surrounding port efficiency, maritime security, and the need for a stronger media-government partnership in promoting trade literacy.

CONMMEP however  reaffirmed its commitment to advocating policies and narratives that support a thriving maritime economy. 

In his remarks, the president  of CONMMEP, comrade Udo Onyeka  applauded Dr. Chukwuma for his leadership and vision in promoting national development through trade empowerment.
