The Tincan Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a remarkable revenue as the command collected ₦159 billion in August 2025.
This feat was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Tincan island Port command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, during a ceremony to decorate newly promoted officers with their new ranks yesterday at the command premises.
In his remarks, Comptroller Onyeka credited the revenue milestone to the successful deployment of the B’Odogwu system and ongoing trade modernisation initiatives.
He emphasised the system’s transformative impact, stating, “B’Odogwu is doing well and it will do better. It has come to stay.”
The B’Odogwu system has integrated all key elements of port and customs operations under one digital interface, enabling faster processing, accurate valuation, and enhanced monitoring of cargo activities .
A total of 187 officers were promoted in the command with new rank as Compt. Onyeka described it as testament to the leadership qualities of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the good cordial working relationship between the Comptroller and his hard working officers.
The Public Relations Officer of the Tin Can Island Command, Oscar Ivara, was also among those decorated with the new rank of Chief superintendent of customs
Onyeka advised the newly promoted officers to cultivate gratitude, contentment, and faith, stressing that happiness, health, and family were more important than wealth or position.
In his words, “Wherever you find yourself, give glory to God. Count your blessings one by one, the more you appreciate God, the more He recognizes you, at the end of the day, the basic thing is to sleep well, have peace, and see your children doing well,” he said.
He equally urged the promoted officers to maintain their high level of performance, saying that this underscores the command’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to enhancing trade facilitation, securing revenue for national development, and supporting all port users in achieving timely and cost-effective cargo clearance .
