Compt. Olumo Hands Over Commands Leadership To Compt. Abubakar, Records N459b In 8 Months At LFTZ

 



The Lekki Free Trade Zone Command of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS),  has recorded a  whooping sum of N459 billion between January to August 2025.

Under the leadership of the customs  Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Olumo revealed that between January and August this year  the Command has collected the sum of four hundred and fifty nine billion, eight hundred and forty eight million, four hundred and twenty thousand, three hundred and forty four naira, seventy seven kobo (₦459,848,420,344.77k) only.

The Command’s cumulative revenue has reached N358 billion, with the Lekki Deep seaport contributing significantly to this growth.


The port has generated N459b since it's inception in April 2023,  showcasing its potential as a major maritime hub in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.

According to the controller, this impressive performance is a testament to the professionalism of the officers and the trust of compliant stakeholders

In the year 2024, the Command had generated three hundred and fifty nine billion, nine hundred and ninety nine million, three hundred and sixty six thousand, three hundred and sixty eight naira (₦359,999,366,368.00) only

This is compared to the seventy four billion, forty eight million, two hundred and forty nine to thousand, nine hundred and forty five naira (₦74,048,249,945.00) only, recorded last year, 2023.


In his speech, the outgoing controller , Comptroller Olanrewaju Olumoh,  expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for entrusting him with the leadership of Lekki Free Zone Command.

He highlighted some notable seizures which includes  containers of tramadol and unapproved pharmaceuticals, which demonstrate the Command’s vigilance and synergy with other sister  agencies.

The incoming controller , Comptroller Hauwa KA Abubakar praised the excellent performance of her predecessor as she sought the cooperation of all to make her tenure as much successful. She also emphasized the importance of faith and collaboration among sister agencies.

”She promised to bring her wealth of experience to bear, ensuring the Command continues to provide an enabling environment for legitimate trade to flourish .


Earlier speaking,  Comptroller Olumo congratulated the the newly promoted officers , stating that the promotion is a recognition of hard work and it calls to greater service, " See this promotion as avenue to renew your pledge of royalty and commitment to the service of our dear father land".

"Whatever success we celebrate today are not mine alone but as a result of the collective effort of the very hard working team". He urged the officers to extend the higher amount of that support to his successor  so that the command will move to greater level .

Olumo  equally advised  officers yet to be promoted not to lose hope, assuring them that their own time will come. "You did not get this promotion does not mean that your contribution have been overlooked by the Service", he emphasized.
