The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command, Idiroko, Comptroller Muhammed Salisu Shuaibu, has charged newly promoted officers of the command to be dedicated, exemplary and embrace continuous learning.
Speaking the decoration of over 50 newly promoted officers at the command’s headquarters in Idiroko, the controller amplified that they should be exemplary leaders as leadership is not about ranks alone but about influence, guidance and the ability to inspire others to excel. He therefore, urged them too lead by example and be a source of motivation to their colleagues.
Charging them on dedicated, Comptroller Shuaibu reiterated the core mandates of Nigeria Customs Service as revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations and trade facilitation, all which are critical to the economic growth and security of the nation. He enjoined that they should let these mandates guide their every action as they contribute to the realization of Customs goals.
Compt. Shuaibu challenges the newly promoted officers to embrace continuous learning, he rightly noted that promotion comes with new challenges, and that staying ahead requires continuous learning and adaptability. He equally advised the promoted officers to equip themselves with knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to excel in their new roles.
Congratulating the promoted officers, he said that their promotion was in recognition of their professionalism, dedication and outstanding performances, as well as the reflection of the Service’s confidence in their ability to take on greater responsibilities and deliver even more in their respective roles.
He stressed that promotions are not handed out lightly but earned, as the rigorous selection process ensures that only those who meet the highest standards of competence, integrity and commitment are chosen; he urged them to see the promotion as a call to greater service to the nation.

You are not just representatives of the Nigeria Customs Service; you are role models for your colleagues, subordinates, and the communities we serve. Let your conduct always reflect the core values of the Service: integrity, diligence, and patriotism,” Comptroller Shuaibu charged.
He admonished personnel who are yet to be promoted not to be discouraged, but remain committed and continue to work hard, saying that “promotion comes from God; your time will surely come”.
He expressed his profound gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and the entire management of the Nigeria Customs Service for their commitment to staff welfare and career progression.
Among those decorated were 16 officers elevated to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC), among others.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Superintendent of Customs Okon Ogar appreciated the board and management of Customs particularly the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi for finding them worthy to bestow on them the respective new ranks.
