Compt.Edeldouk Assumes Duty At KLT, As The Command Collects N36.6billion Revenue In 5 Months

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has collected the sum of N36.6 billion between January and May. Disclosing this to newsmen at the handing over ceremony held at the command premises on 31 may, 2024, the Acting ACG, Martina Tilley-Gyado said KLT command collected over N40b revenue between January and May 2024, which is more than double of the N16b collected within same period of 2023.
The outgoing Acting ACG, appreciated the officers as well as stakeholders for their support throughout her stay at the command. She pointed out that the command relied on the stemming of cargoes to its terminals even though the cargo throughput was low. She established and extended terminal availability adding that it also transformed from simple export processing terminal exporting 869 containers since it became Export processing Terminal (EPT). Tilley-Gyado said the achievements were due to the resilience of the officers and men of the command, She urged the stakeholders and officers of the command to extend same support to her successor.
Speaking at the ceremony, the new Area Controller of Customs,(CAC), Compt. Joy Edeldouk urged officers to redouble their efforts at collection of revenue as that will be the topmost priority of her leadership at the command. According to her, revenue collection is the major Key Performance Index to determine officers productivity, she promised to pursue it with figure to surpass the feats achieved by her predecessors. Speaking further, she promised that her leadership at command will embrace positive innovation that are legitimate to make the command more business friendly.
Compt. Edeldouk, added that Time Release Study(TRS), which was initiated by Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, is an effort which will make 48hrs cargo clearances achievable. She promised robust collaboration with sister agencies and wider consultation with stakeholders to achieve all Federal Government objective within the Nigerian Customs Service area of responsibility. The former Controller of the command who was recently appointed Acting ACG in NCS Headquarters, Human Resources Department described the new controller as a hand that will take command to greater heights.
